SEPANG: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), which has once again launched its Indulge Till You Fly Campaign (ITUF), is eyeing a sales revenue of RM1.46 billion from its non-aviation segment this year against RM1.3 billion last year.
Senior general manager of commercial services Faizah Khairuddin said MAHB, like many other airport operators around the world, is now moving towards the non-aviation segment.
"The company has plans to grow a bigger portion of the non-aeronautical segment from the current contribution of 52% to our total revenue," she told at a media conference after launching the ITUF 2013-2014 campaign yesterday.
Faizah said MAHB aims to grow its non-aviation segment to two-thirds of overall revenue, while the remaining one-third will come from the aviation segment.
This target, she noted, is ambitious but viable for MAHB because the group has a lot of opportunities that need to be harnessed.
ITUF, which is being held for the fourth year in a row, is part of MAHB's drive to raise awareness of the dual roles of its international airports — as transport hubs as well as lifestyle destinations.
"We are targeting RM150 million sales, 15% higher than last year's sales of RM130 million," she said.
During last year's campaign, the airport operator garnered a 134% hike in sales through the campaign while the average spend by travellers went up by 50%.
"We are confident of achieving this year's target because we have a great team to convert the airports into a wonderland for a shopping spree," she said.
The ITUF campaign will be held from today until Feb 28 next year at all of MAHB's international airports — KLIA/LCCT-KLIA, Langkawi International Airport, Penang International Airport, Kuching International Airport and Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
Participants need to spend a minimum of RM250 at any food and beverage or retail outlet at the five international airports.
MasterCard holders will be allowed to double their entries and shopping vouchers.
The grand prize winner stands to receive a RM1 million shopping spree in Hong Kong, Tokyo, New York, London, Paris, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur. The winner is allowed to bring along a partner and will stay at top-class hotels.
