KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 6): The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contracts on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed lower today in line with the weaker underlying cash market, dealers said.

Spot month August 2013 eased one point to close at 1,783.5, September 2014 fell two point to 1,780 and December 2013 shed 2.5 points to 1,779.

March 2014 was untraded at 1,781.5.

Phillip Futures Sdn Bhd Analyst, Tan Sek Wei, said the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Futures ended almost flat today to close at 1,783.5 as the activities remained unimpressive throughout the day and kept limited, ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays.

"The benchmark index futures swung between gains and losses today on lack of buying interest. We expect that the direction of market will revive after the holiday break," he told Bernama.

Bursa Malaysia will be opened for the morning session only tomorrow and closed on Aug 8 and 9 in conjunction with the holidays.

Turnover fell to 2,471 lots from 4,534 lots yesterday, while open interest eased to 35,276 contracts from 39,484 contracts previously.

The underlying FBM KLCI closed 0.5 of a point lower at 1,785.14.
