Aeon enters Thai furniture market
PETALING JAYA: Aeon Co (M) Bhd is tying up with Thailand’s Index Living Mall Co Ltd in a bid to enter into the home and office furniture market.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Aeon said both parties would set up a 70:30 joint venture with a paid-up capital of RM45mil, of which Aeon would extend RM31.5mil from internally-generated funds.
It said the JV company would sell their furniture products at a retail outlet called Index Living Mall.
Aeon said this was part of the company’s strategies to accelerate its business expansion and “is not expected to give rise to any material gains or losses on the earnings of the company for the current financial year ending Dec 31, 2013.”
