Ho Kay Tat appointed new MD of Star

PETALING JAYA: Star Publications (M) Bhd has appointed Ho Kay Tat as group managing director/chief executive officer with effect from July 1, 2011.
Ho, 52, who was executive director/chief operating officer, succeeds Datin Linda Ngiam Pick Ngoh who has retired but remains on the board as a non-executive director, the company disclosed to Bursa Malaysia.

Star Publications executive deputy chairman Datuk Vincent Lee paid tribute to Ngiam's 26 years service, describing her as a rock who helped the company weather many storms.
In a message to staff, Lee said Ngiam left behind a solid company that was well-positioned for the future and congratulated Ho on his appointment.
“A seasoned newspaper man, Kay Tat is aware of the challenges we face, but I also know he relishes the task of working with all of us to take on those challenges,” Lee said.
In a career spanning 28 years, Ho has worked in various editorial and management roles at The New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd, Reuters, the Singapore Business Times, The Sun and The Edge.
