KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom Axiata Bhd expects the company's daily Short Message Service (SMS)to double during the 10-day "Who Will Win" campaign from an average of 97 million on a normal day, said Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly.

"We hope it will double because of this event," he said at the launch of the campaign here today.

The charges of the SMSes are between 30 sen and RM7.00 per SMS.

The company today kicked off the campaign in conjunction with upcoming friendly matches organised by the Football Association of Malaysia featuring Arsenal and Chelsea.

Arsenal and Chelsea will meet the Malaysian team on July 13 and July 21, respectively.

Celcom is also the official telco for the Malaysia XI vs Arsenal and Malaysia XI vs Chelsea matches.

Under the campaign, participants have to participate in the interactive activities offered by Celcom, from the SMS-based mobile voting challenge to fun-filled quizzes, in order to stand a chance to catch all the action up close and personal.

Participants can also join activities under the "Who Will Win" campaign to win autographed jerseys and free passes to the matches.

Shazalli also said that the company would launch eight new products before end of the year of which one would be unveiled before the fasting month.

Asked on the company's financial performance for the second quarter, Shazalli said that it would be within the company's expectations. - BERNAMA
