KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 21): The Malaysian rubber market closed higher on increasing demand, despite the lower finish on the Tokyo rubber futures exchange.
A dealer said, the Tokyo Rubber Futures closed lower on the back of rising inventories, which weighed on the prices.
At noon, the Malaysian Rubber Board's official physical price for tyre-grade SMR 20 increased 0.5 sen to 711.50 sen a kg, while latex-in-bulk increased one sen to 481 sen a kg.
The unofficial closing price for tyre-grade SMR 20 eased 0.5 sen to 709.50 sen a kg, while latex-in-bulk rose two sen to 482 sen a kg.
