Zuraidah is public interest director of Bursa Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Lawyer and former banker Datuk Zuraidah Atan has been appointed as the public interest director of Bursa Malaysia Bhd, with effect from yesterday.
Her appointment was made by the Minister of Finance Inc, pursuant to Section 10 of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007, Bursa Malaysia said yesterday.
Zuraidah, 54, is a member of the Malaysian Bar. She has her own legal firm Chambers of Zuraidah Atan and has been practising since 2004.
She was recently appointed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission as a member of the Consultation and Corruption Prevention Panel.
Zuraidah, with LLB (Hons) from the University of Buckingam in the United Kingdom and Certificate in Legal Practice in Malaysia, has 25 years of experience in the banking industry.
She has served as the president and chief executive officer of an investment bank.
Zuraidah sits on the board of Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd.
She is also an arbitrator in the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration and serves as an honorary adviser to National Cancer Society of Malaysia.
She is the chairman of Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa (Students Volunteer Foundation), a wholly-owned entity of Malaysian government, via the Education Ministry.
