PETALING JAYA: Padiberas Nasional Bhd (Bernas) will be suspended come March 21 now that the parties attempting a buyout of the company hold 91.67% of its shares.
In an announcement to the stock exchange yesterday, Malaysia’s sole rice distributor said the joint offerors and parties acting in concert, namely Perspective Lane (M) Sdn Bhd, Kelana Ventures Sdn Bhd, Seaport Terminal (Johore) Sdn Bhd and Acara Kreatif Sdn Bhd, as well as Tradewinds (M) Bhd, had amassed up to 96.06% of Bernas, including a small portion that still needed to be verified, via its RM3.70 a share offer.
Bernas also extended the closing date for its offer by two weeks to April 1 from next Tuesday.
