KUALA LUMPUR (April 17): The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Futures (FKLI) contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed higher today, in tandem with the stronger underlying cash market, a dealer said.
Phillip Futures Sdn Bhd Dealer, Thomas Yew Jia-Jong, said the benchmark index rose today, tracking the overnight US market performance, as US Federal Reserve Chair, Janet Yellen, would continue to back economic stimulus.
Additional market support also came in, through local funds, he added.
"However, the FKLI closed flat, in an uninspired session," Yew told Bernama.
He added, the FKLI was expected to continue its consolidation tomorrow, with downside bias trading pattern in a tight range, as the majority of Asian markets will close for Good Friday.
April 2014 edged up 0.5 of a point to 1,845, while May 2014 and June 2014 added two points each, to 1,842 and 1,841 respectively.
September 2014 gained 4.5 points to 1,838.5.
Turnover declined to 4,785 lots, from 6,347 lots yesterday, while open interest eased to 32,941 contracts, from 34,524 contracts on Wednesday.
The benchmark FBM KLCI rose 5.17 points to settle at 1,850.54, after moving between 1,847.4 and 1,852.13.
