KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 17): CIMB Research has maintained its Overweight rating on the Malaysian Construction sector and said it recently met more than 50 investors from over 27 investment during its construction sector roadshow.
In a note Thursday, the research house said investors were keen to delve into the status of key projects and most shared our views on sector catalysts.
“Our meetings in KL and Hong Kong focused more on the big caps while our meetings in Singapore were more skewed to the small/mid caps.
“Most fund managers concurred with our view that Gamuda could play catch-up in 2H14,” it said.
CIMB Research said expectations were still high for Muhibbah Engineering securing packages in Rapid.
“While still sceptical, investors were eager for High Speed Rail updates and keen to hear our opinion about YTL Corp’s advantage.
“Maintain sector Overweight. Gamuda remains our top pick in the big-cap space while Muhibbah is our small/mid-cap pick,” it said.
