KUALA LUMPUR (April 8): General (R) Tan Sri Mohd Shahrom Nordin, former chief of the [size=14]Malaysian Army, has been appointed as new independent and non-executive chairman of Masterskill Education Group Bhd ([You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Financial Dashboard).
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, it was revealed Shahrom, 68, who had served as chief of the Malaysian Army from September 2003 to January 2013, would be taking on the chairman role in the education group.
Shahrom is also the independent non-executive chairman of construction company TRC Synergy Bhd ([You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Financial Dashboard), and an executive director of defence and business in National Aerospace & Defence Industries Sdn Bhd.
Earlier this year, Masterskill’s two major shareholders Creador LLC and SMRT Holdings Bhd ([You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Financial Dashboard) had revealed a turnaround plan for the education group, which involved renaming the education group to Asiamet Education Group Bhd. Masterskill had been loss making for the past two years.
Masterskill (fundamental: 0.8; valuation: 0.6) shares closed down 1 sen or 1.6% lower today to 61.5 sen, with a market capitalisation of RM235.05 million.
