SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said on Wednesday, July 13 the state government is prepared to cooperate with the federal government in planning the development of the Rubber Research Institute (RRI) grounds and the surrounding areas as a new development hub for the Klang Valley.

He said the development project at the RRI involved a wide area totalling 1,335 hectares under the administration of two local authorities namely the Shah Alam City Council and the Subang Jaya Municipal Council.

Abdul Khalid said this in the State Assembly sitting when replying to Datuk Muhammad Bushro Mat Johor (BN-Paya Jaras) who wanted to know whether the state government was prepared to work with the federal government to develop the hub.

"I have heard the preliminary briefing on the project by the EPF (Employees Provident Fund) which is the main investor in the proposed project," Abdul Khalid said.

For the time being, he said only the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system by Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd, covering 65,437 hectares, had been approved by the state government for the development hub in Sungai Buloh. - Bernama
