Perstima records lower Q1 pre-tax profit

Perusahaan Sadur Timah Malaysia (PERSTIMA) Bhd recorded a 40.9 per cent decline in pre-tax profit to RM17.924 million for the first quarter ended June 30, 2011 from RM30.332 million
in the same period, last year.
Revenue however, increased to RM214.01 million from RM202.23 million, the company said in a filling to Bursa Malaysia today.
"The Board of Directors expect the group's operating environment to remain challenging and competitive, due to the greater presence of tinplates from China and Korea.
"However, barring any unforeseen circumstances , the board envisages that the group can achieve a satisfactory performance for the financial year ending March 31, 2012. -- Bernama
