Perodua July sales up 85pc
Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd's (Perodua) sales in July 2011 increased by 85 per cent to 16,500 units from 8,900 units the previous month.
In a statement today, Perodua said this was attributed to higher new Myvi sales and faster-than-expected recovery of its production which was hit by the shortage of parts from Japan.
Managing director, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh, said the better July sales represented a market share of 32 per cent.
"The sales were driven by the new Myvi where the company delivered some 8,500 units. Sales of the ViVA and Alza also improved in July from the month before," he said.
Meanwhile, Perodua new Myvi has been received a four-star Malaysian Vehicle Assessment Programme (MyVAP) rating by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety (Miros).
In a statement today, Aminar Rashid said the rating would give buyers the added confidence on the safety features of the model.
