KL shares higher at midmorning
KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were higher
at mid-morning today, led by gains in heavyweights including Petronas Dagangan, Kuala Lumpur Kepong and Petronas Chemical, dealers said.
At 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 6.36 points, or 0.43 per cent, to 1,490.03 after opening 2.37 points higher at 1,486.04.
Dealers said the market extended its uptrend in line with firmer regional bourses.
Petronas Dagangan gained 32 sen to RM17.10, Kuala Lumpur Kepong rose 16 sen to RM21.04 and Petronas Chemical added 13 sen to RM6.46.
The overall market breath was positive with gainers outpaced losers by 351 to 147 while 236 unchanged and 791 not traded.
Turnover stood at 313.206 million shares worth RM284.714 million.
The Finance Index rose 36.62 points to 14,109.36, Plantation Index gained 47.88 points to 7,256.33 and the Industrial Index added 7.05 points to 2,722.06.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia Emas Index rose 50.721 points to 10,197.82, Malaysia Mid 70 Index advanced 77.95 points to 11,130.15 and the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Ace Index increased 10.89 points to 3,804.98.
Among active stocks, DVM Technology fell three sen to 18.5, Takaso Resources declined half sen to one sen and Wijaya Baru-Wa gained one sen to 18.5 sen.
For heavyweights, Maybank added seven sen to RM8.54, CIMB added one sen to RM8.11 and Sime Darby rose three sen to RM8.85. - Bernama
