Unico-Desa Q1 pre-tax profit rises to RM30m

in the first quarter ended June 30, 2011 increased to RM30.610 million from RM9.976 million in the corresponding quarter last year.
Its revenue increased to RM78.351 million from RM49.778 million
previously.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities, it attributed the strong profit growth to its plantation segment where pre-tax profit soared by 400 per cent to RM25 million on higher internal fresh fruit bunches production and average selling prices in the quarter.
Its higher purchase business saw 12 per cent growth in pre-tax profit to RM5.6 million.
Unico-Desa expects its current financial year's performance to be better than the previous year. -- Bernama
