Carlsberg mulls raising prices in 2012
PETALING JAYA: Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd is considering raising its products' prices in 2012, driven by escalating raw material costs particularly barley amidst a hike in power tariffs and natural gas.
Managing director Soren Ravn said although the brewer had not hedge anything yet for next year, the prices of barley could be 35% to 40% higher, which will further squeeze the group's margins.
Earlier in May, the brewer had raised its products' prices by 3%, citing rising costs of raw materials such as malt and hops as well as packaging materials.
