Sime may unveil Bucyrus deal by year-end
Sime Darby Bhd is in talks with Caterpillar Inc to buy distribution assets of Bucyrus International Inc, said Scott William Cameron, the executive vice president of Sime’s industrial division.
Malaysia’s Sime may announce the deal by the end of the year, he told reporters in Puchong, outside Kuala Lumpur, today.
Caterpillar, the world’s largest maker of construction and mining equipment, closed its US$8.8 billion purchase of Bucyrus on July 8 and said it planned to sell distribution assets to dealers. -- Bloomberg
