Hong Kong: Lowest close since April 2009
SHARES tumbled 3.40 per cent yesterday, hitting a two-and-a-half-year low as the eurozone debt crisis strains markets worldwide with fears of another devastating downturn.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index dived 571.88 points to 16,250.27 - its fourth straight loss and its lowest close since early April 2009.
"Unfortunately, for China at the moment, people are looking at what's happening elsewhere," said Francis Cheong, CLSA's Hong Kong and China equity strategist. - Agencies
