Hong Kong: Stocks close 58pc lower

STOCKS closed 0.58 per cent down yesterday amid growing fears that the US will default on its debt repayments.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index fell 130.49 points to 22,440.25 on turnover of HK$66.68 billion.
"Market visibility remains low and investors may have to wait until the US debt situation crystallises on Tuesday before seeing a firm direction," said South China Research. - AFP
