Pos Malaysia Bhd expects its new On Demand Pick-Up (ODP) service to generate a revenue of RM3 million in the first year of
operation.

Group managing director/chief executive officer, Datuk Syed Faisal Albar, said the target was realistic as the company expected it to be well-received by customers due to the cost savings it offered.

"ODP provides the convenience and flexibility for customers to schedule the pick-up of their couriered items at their homes or offices. "This will save the customers time and fuel cost for travelling to Poslaju centres or Pos Malaysia outlets as well as avoiding parking hassles and waiting at the counter," he told reporters after launching the service here today.

He said apart from cost saving, the feature also helps businesses

especially small businesses operating from homes or offices. Syed Faisal said every pick-up service is charged RM5 on top of the total shipping cost, which is determined by weight and destination.

The service, available at 57 Poslaju centres across nationwide, is reachable at 1-300-22-5258, he said. Meanwhile, Poslaju chief executive officer Nor Azizan Tarja said the company aimed to secure 15,000 transactions per month for the service.

At the ceremony, Pos Malaysia also signed a Collaboration Agreement with Telekom Malaysia Bhd, appointing the telecommunications company as the exclusive call centre service provider for ODP. -- Bernama
