FBM KLCI closed higher
KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI closed higher today as renewed buying interest pushed the local barometer up to the positive zone.
However,
investors in other markets were seen fleeing to safe haven investments
such as the US Treasuries, where yields were at record lows.
The
local bourse closed 3.27 points or 0.21% higher at 1,525.56 points, with
losers outpacing gainers by 418 to 351, while 339 were unchanged.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank added three sen to RM8.25, Genting climbed 20 sen to RM10.96 and Axiata gained one sen to RM4.93.
Most actives, Ingens added one sen to 8 sen, Proton jumped 18 sen to RM5.46 and AIM was flat at 13.5 sen.
Regional
bourses were down: Singapore's Straits Times Index was up 0.1% at
2,749.95; Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index declined 0.3% at 19,095.38,
Seoul's Kospi Index inched up 1.03% to 1,864.57; Shanghai's A share
index was 0.05% lower at 2,275.01 and Tokyo's Nikkei 225 was 0.74% lower
at 8,385.59.
Nymex crude oil was quoted at USD101.24 per barrel.
Spot gold was USD1,646.48 per troy ounce while silver was USD30.11 per
ounce.
The ringgit was quoted at 3.1420 to the USD and 3.9961 to the euro.
However,
