Call on MAS not to retrench employees
KUALA LUMPUR: The Council of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak) has called on Malaysian Airlines (MAS) to give an assurance that it will not retrench employees.
Its president Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Rahman said the Malaysia Airlines System Employees Union (Maseu) was worried about the future of over 10,000 MAS employees following the Comprehensive Cooperation Framework (CCF) cemented between the national carrier and budget airline AirAsia.
"What does the new business plan under the CCF entail? We really hope MAS will guarantee that it will not cut down on the number of employees.
"Mubarak hopes MAS will always champion its employees who have contributed greatly to the success of the airline to be among the world's best airlines," he told a news conference after meeting Maseu officials here yesterday.
He said Maseu officials headed by its president, Alias Aziz, had voiced their apprehension over the CCF on the future of MAS employees at the meeting.
At the meeting, Maseu handed over a memorandum to Mubarak to be delivered to the government. Bernama
