StanChart research head sees Malaysia GDP growth 2.7% this year
KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 16): Malaysia's economy is expected to grow at a slower pace this year, with gross domestic product
(GDP) expanding at 2.7% compared with an estimated 4.8% in 2011.
Standard Chartered Bank's head of research Tai Hui said on Monday the country's skiwer GDP growth would be line with the
rest of Asia except for Thailand and Indonesia which are expected to see higher GDP in 2012.
"Growth will be much weaker (this year) due to the slowdown in global demand. There will be lower private consumption due
to the slowdown in exports and lower investments due to the uncertainties," said Tai.
