KL shares close higher
Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Malaysia trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Kuala Lumpur.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Index rose 0.7 per cent to 1,596.33, a record close. The gauge gained 4.3 per cent this quarter, its second quarterly increase.
Astino Bhd, a maker of metal roof sheets and doors, dropped 4.2 per cent to 79 sen, its largest loss since Jan. 25. The company’s second-quarter net income fell 33 per cent from a year earlier to RM3.7 million, it said in a stock-exchange filing.
Cypark Resources Bhd, an environmental and landscaping-services provider, advanced 4.3 per cent to RM1.94, its steepest increase since March 16. The company signed a preliminary agreement with First Myanmar Investment Co to develop a waste management and renewable energy project in Myanmar, Cypark said in a statement.
Hai-O Enterprise Bhd, a seller of traditional health-care products, climbed 2.4 per cent to RM2.18, its biggest gain since Feb. 3. The company’s third-quarter profit grew 43 per cent from a year earlier to RM9.1 million, it said in an exchange filing.
MTouche Technology Bhd, a wireless network operator and mobile messaging provider, added 4.9 per cent to 43 sen. Chief Executive Officer Goh Eugene is unaware of any plan by a group of people to take over the company, MTouche said in a statement, denying a Star newspaper report. -- Bloomberg
