KL shares broadly lower at midday

Share prices on Bursa Malaysia closed the morning session broadly lower today as investors continued to take profits after
a recent strong surge.
At 12.30 pm, the FBM KLCI lost 5.95 points to 1,600.68.
"The local bourse was also dampened by the growing concerns over the disappointed economic news from Europe and the United States," an analyst said.
The Finance Index lost 78.49 points to 14,373.59, but the Plantation Index fell 22.09 points to 8,759.98 and the Industrial Index was down 3.8 points to 2,886.96.
The FBM Emas Index dwindled 38.55 points to 10,969.81, the FBM 70 Index declined 37.18 points to 12,057.14 and the FBM ACE Index shed 13.93 points to 4,507.41.
Losers led gainers 369 to 199 while 315 counters were unchanged, 638 untraded and 26 others were suspended. A total of 571.84 million shares worth RM399.87 million were traded.
Among active stocks, Managepay Systems earned two sen to 22.5 sen, Carotech was flat at 2.5 sen, while Metronic Global and Ingenuity Solutions eased half a sen each to 15.5 sen and 9.5 sen, respectively.
Heavyweights Maybank lost five sen to RM8.90, CIMB fell seven sen to RM7.74, Petronas Chemicals slid two sen to RM6.71, while Sime Darby was flat at RM9.87. -- BERNAMA
