Mercedez-Benz Q1 vehicle sales up 0.5pc
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd's total vehicle sales for the first quarter ended March 31, 2012, grew by 0.5 per cent
to 1,724 units of passenger and commercial vehicles combined.
In a statement today, Mercedes-Benz said passenger car sales grew six per cent with 1,302 units delivered, besting its sales of 1,226 units in the same period last year.
"The Mercedes-Benz C-Class led the field, posting a 19 per cent growth, further cementing its status as the preferred premium passenger car in its segment with 600 units sold," it said.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia's president, Roland S. Folger, attributed the growth to the value of the product and the services it and its partners provided.
"Sales of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars are a reflection of the brand’s strength and the excellent residual value of vehicles which we try to constantly protect in all our sales- and marketing-related activities," he said.
Folger said the company planned to launch three passenger car models in the second half of 2012.
"We began the year with the introduction of five new models but we have more goodies lined up this year.
"With three new premium cars and two trucks still in the pipeline, we expect yet another exciting year ahead," he said.
Mercedes-Benz said its commercial vehicles business was once again led by sales of its Mitsubishi Fuso trucks with 404 units delivered.
"Following the strong government impetus to boost economic and investment activities, which is expected to increase demand for light commercial vehicles, Mercedes-Benz is confident of a surge in its truck sales especially with the recent launch of its Mitsubishi Fuso Canter FG 4x4," he said. -- BERNAMA
