KL shares open slighly lower
KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia opened slightly lower
Tuesday as investors remained sidelined awaiting the Eurozone
uncertainty to clear up.
At 9.20 am, the benchmark FBM KLCI was 1.46 points easier at 1,553.48 after opening 0.94 of a point lower at 1,554.
HwangDBS Vickers Research Sdn Bhd said the local bourse would
experience another quiet day today, after having seen just 736 million
shares traded yesterday.
"The benchmark FBM KLCI is expected to dance around its immediate
resistance line of 1,555 points level," it said in a research note.
Meanwhile, the highlight of the day will likely be a
keynote address by the Prime Minister at the Invest Malaysia 2012
conference that will run until tomorrow, the research firm said.
"Following his speech this morning, there will be additional news
flows on from Malaysia's corporates as they showcase their investment
merits in the Asean marketplace," it added.
The Emas Index lost 7.88 points to 10,604.67, the Industrial Index
slipped 6.15 points to 2,717.5 while the Plantation Index rose 26.88
points to 8,238.79.
The Finance Index fell 10.91 points to 13,889.9 and the ACE Index declined 23.05 points to 4,276.17.
Losers led gainers 92 to 84 while 126 counters were unchanged, 1,249 untraded and 20 others were suspended.
Turnover stood at 58.47 million shares worth RM34.53 million.
Among active counters, KPS Consortium earned one sen to 42 sen but
OSK Holdings shed 12 sen to RM1.62, Naim Indah decreased 1.5 sen to
31.5 sen and Ariantec Global eased half-a-sen to 13 sen.
Maybank added two sen to RM8.59, CIMB increased one sen to RM7.28
while Sime Darby lost six sen to RM9.46 and Petronas Chemicals shed
