Malaysia News & Highlights
AirAsia wants out

MTD ACPI, Ekovest win RM550mil road jobs
MTD ACPI Engineering Bhd and Ekovest Bhd have secured road construction-related jobs worth about RM550mil from UEMB-MRCB JV Sdn Bhd (formerly Intria Urus Sdn Bhd). In separate filings with Bursa Malaysia, MTD ACPI announced that it had secured a RM303.20mil contract to build a fourth lane between Sungai Buloh and Rawang interchange. Meanwhile, Ekovest Bhd said through its wholly-owned unit, Ekovest Construction Sdn Bhd, that it had been awarded two projects worth RM253.31mil by UEMB-MRCB JV to widen some roads. At least six bidders for digital TV broadcasting deal
At least six companies are expected to submit their business plans to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) today, to bid for the rights to be the common integrated infrastructure provider (CIIP) for the rolling out of digital terrestrial television broadcasting (DTTB). The entire cost of the project, including the cost of subsidising set-top boxes, is expected to be around RM900 million (RM600 million rollout and RM300 million set-top box). (Source: Business Times)
Sapura Kencana awards O&G deal
Sapura Kencana Petroleum Bhd has awarded a RM8.5 million contract for three process packages to Global Process Systems (GPS), a global provider of technology-based "design and build" process facilities solutions for the oil and gas industry. In a statement to Business Times, GPS said the contracts are for the fuel gas conditioning, the produced water treatment and the deaerator column and vacuum pump skid for the Serendah project, located off the shores of Sarawak. The project will be executed by GPS unit in Malaysia. (Source: Business Times)
PAAB snubs offer for joint venture
Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB) confirmed that MMC Corp Bhd, the flagship company of the influential Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary, has made an unsolicited offer for the two to establish a joint venture to own the country’s water assets. PAAB confirmed that it attended a presentation on the possibility of co-owning the water assets by executives from MMC. However, PAAB said it is not seeking a partner to own the water assets.
