M'sian billionaire Ananda Krishnan sells Maxis stake worth RM2.35bil
Tycoon T. Ananda Krishnan is selling up to 375 million shares worth around RM2.35bil in the country's largest mobile phone operator Maxis Bhd, according to a source familiar with the deal. The shares were being priced at a range between RM6.21 and RM6.34 per share, the source said, representing a 3%-5% discount to the closing price of RM6.54 yesterday. (Source: The Star)
AirAsia to acquire Indonesia’s Batavia Air
AirAsia Bhd unit AirAsia Investment Ltd and its partner, PT Fersindo Nusaperkasa, will acquire PT Metro Batavia, the company which operates the Indonesian Batavia Air and Aero Flyer Institute, an aviation training school. The acquisition, which is subject to regulatory approvals in Indonesia and is expected to complete by the second quarter of 2013, will see AirAsia holding a 49% stake in Metro Batavia and Fersindo Nusaperkasa holding the 51% majority stakes. Parkson buys into Sri Lanka fashion retailer
Parkson Holdings Bhd’s 67.61 per cent unit, Parkson Retail Asia Ltd, plans to buy a 41.82 per cent stake, or 60.6 million shares, in Sri Lanka’s fashion retailer Odel plc from the Gunewardene family for S$13.6 million (RM34.27 million). If accepted, Parkson will be required to make a mandatory offer for the remaining shares in Odel at 23.50 Sri Lanka rupees per share (RM0.57). (Source: Business Times)

TSR Capital Bhd, through its wholly-owned subsidiary TSR Bina Sdn Bhd, has received two contracts from Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd, the concessionaire for the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project. Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is expected to make an official announcement today stating that the cost for low-cost carrier terminal KLIA2 in Sepang has not swelled to RM5 billion as alleged by some quarters. MAHB will also affirm that KLIA2 will stick to the April 2013 opening date as announced earlier. Sources told Business Times that the airport operator would stand by the earlier figure of RM4 billion for the new low-cost carrier terminal and lay to rest concerns over speculation of a spiralling increase in cost. SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Kencana HL Sdn Bhd, has secured two contracts worth RM250mil-RM300mil from Murphy Sarawak Oil Co Ltd. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, SapuraKencana said the contracts were for the provision of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of Patricia Satellite-A Platform and Serendah Accommodation-A Platform topsides facilities for the SK309/311 Serendah, Patricia & South Acis Development Projects.
