KUALA LUMPUR (May 7): Gerakan president Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon
tells Barisan Nasional (BN), in which Gerakan is a component party, not
to blame ethnic Chinese for its failure to win big in the just-concluded
general election.
“We should stop the blame game, especially on racial basis. It is
incorrect and improper to only blame the Chinese for not supporting BN
and being ungrateful.
“In Terengganu, with over 95% Malay voters, the opposition’s support
has also increased,” Koh said in a statement today.
He said Gerakan welcomes Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s statement
that he is “the Prime Minister of all Malaysians”.
“We also fully support his call for national reconciliation based on moderation and inclusiveness. Based on the PM’s call, BN
parties have to implement initiatives to win back the support that we have lost,” he said.
Koh said Malaysians need to respect the choice of the people and move on.
“While BN accepts PR’s win in three states, Pakatan Rakyat should also accept BN’s win at the federal level and in nine
states,” he said.
