CIMB Research maintains Neutral on regional aviation sector

KUALA LUMPUR (July 5): CIMB Research has maintained its Neutral rating on the Aviation sector and said recent International Air Transport Association (IATA) reports indicated that Asia-Pacific air passenger and cargo trends remain soft and could take time to recover given the recent lacklustre economic data from China.
In a note Friday, the research house said Chinese passenger yields may have dropped a staggering 15% year-on-year during 1H13.
“We maintain our Neutral overall call, with top Outperforms being AirAsia, Cebu Air, MAHB, Qantas and Cathay.
“We recently raised our target price for MAHB to RM7.55 as we believe it will be able to open KLIA2 on 2 May 2014,” it said.
