KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 19): The ringgit closed lower against the US dollar today on weaker demand for the local note, a dealer said.
The ringgit weakened against the US dollar at 3.2845/2875 from 3.2748/2778 at Friday's close.
"The greenback regained its footing against major rivals, as traders continue to weigh the implications of any move by the Federal Reserve to slow the flow of monetary stimulus," he added.
The ringgit was traded at a range of between 3.2729 and 3.3220 today.
The local currency was higher against the Singapore dollar to 2.5763/5798 from 2.5784/5818 last week but was lower against the yen at 3.3629/3663 from 3.3588/3632 Friday.
The ringgit fell against the British pound to 5.1386/1440 from 5.1218/1275 and was easier against the euro to 4.3769/3816 from 4.3676/3719 last week
