KUALA LUMPUR (May 20): Handal Resources Bhd posted net profit RM553,000 for its first quarter ended March 31, 2014, compared to net loss of RM565,000 a year earlier.

In a filing Tuesday, Handal said its revenue for the quarter had also improved by 21% year-on-year to RM24.0 million from RM19.7 million in the year before.

The group attributed its profit for the quarter to “improved revenue and higher gross profit contributed by integrated crane services contract secured by the group.”

Its fabrication of cranes business and supply, fabrication & servicing industrial equipments & tank segment had also reported improved revenue.

Meanwhile, its workover project business and supply of telecommunication & broadcasting system business had reported a reduction in revenue.
