Tuesday, 24 June 2014 19:19 KUALA LUMPUR (June 24): The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI futures (FKLI) contracts on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended sharply higher today, buoyed by the stronger cash market. Phillip Futures Sdn Bhd Dealer, Lim Eng Wee, told Bernama that the FBM KLCI jumped 8.37 points to close at an all-time high of 1,892.33, on better-than-expected US existing home sales and tracking gains on Asian markets. He said buoyed by the sentiment, the spot month June FKLI contracts rose for the fifth straight session, to a record high of 1,893.0. At the close, spot month June 2014 gained 10 points to 1,893, July 2014 and September 2014 garnered 11 points each to 1,895.5 and 1,891 respectively, and December 2014 advanced 12 points to 1,890.5. Turnover rose fourfold to 16,217 lots, from 4,012 lots on Monday, while open interest widened to 49,775 contracts, from 36,903 contracts previously. |
