KL shares lower at mid-day
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped below the 1,560 points level mid-day as share prices remained sluggish
as global debt fears continued to affect investor sentiment.
The key index ended the lunch break 6.81 points lower at 1,555.77 after opening 0.10 points easier at 1,562.48
CIMB Group Holdings and Maybank extended their losses on news that the Indonesian central bank planned to limit foreign ownership in banks.
The Finance Index lost 83.13 points to 14,620.78, the Plantation Index decreased 23.27 points to 7,681.37 and the Industrial Index trimmed 7.18 points to 2,840.16.
The FBM Emas Index fell 55.40 points to 10,650.65, the FBM Ace
declined 38.21 points to 4,044.14 and the FBMT 100 erased 54.65 points to 10,437.68.
The stock market's breadth remained bearish with losers leading gainers 459 to 143 with 258 counters unchanged, 634 untraded and 25 others suspended. Volume was thin at 395.247 million shares worth RM656.271 million.
Inari Bhd, which debuted on the Ace Market this morning, was five sen higher at 43 sen over its initial offering price of 38 sen.
For actives, DVM Technology added half-a-sen to 13 sen, Muda Holdings gained one sen to RM1.06 but Axiata Group was flat at RM5.03.
Heavyweights, Maybank slipped six sen to RM8.76, CIMB eased 11 sen to RM8.45, Sime Darby eased two sen to RM9.07 and Petronas Chemicals was flat at RM7.06. -- Bernama
