RM1.1mil for seven Chinese schools in Kedah
ALOR STAR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has announced a RM1.1 million financial assistance from the Federal Government to seven Chinese schools and an association of former students for a Chinese school in the state.
Najib said three private schools – Sekolah Menengah Sin Min in Sungai Petani, Sekolah Menengah Keat Hwa and Sekolah Menengah Sin Min here, will received RM200,000 each.
Four Chinese vernacular schools – Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Chio Min in Kulim, Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Sin Min in Sungai Petani, Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Keat Hwa 1 and Sekolah Menengah Keat Hwa II (CORRECT) here; will each received RM100,000.
Also receiving the same amount was Keat Hwa Former Students Association.
The allocation were given to the recipients to help them to conduct upgrading works and organise more activities for their schools.
The prime minister made the announcement when he met the Chinese community at Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Keat Hwa I in Jalan Kuala Kedah here.
Earlier, Najib visited Al-Rahmah mosque in Taman Wira, Mergong here.
At the mosque, Najib was briefed on the extension work of the building, costing about RM1.12 million, funded by the Government.
He later spent 30 minutes with the people during his walkabout at housing estate Pasar Tani.
