'KLIA not affected by US, Europe crises'
The KL International Airport (KLIA), so far, hasn't been affected by the economic crisis in the US and Europe, says the airport's operator, Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd.
MAHB senior general manager for operations, Datuk Azmi Murad said for the January to July period, the number of passengers using KLIA had increased by 13.3 per cent to 21.836 million passengers compared with the same period last year.
"Passengers using the main terminal increased by 9.3 per cent to 11.759 million while passengers using the low cost carrier terminal increased 18.4 per cent to 10.077 million compared with the January-July period last year," he said after distributing dates and mineral water to passengers at the KLIA today.
He said the higher number of passengers from the Middle East, who are having their holidays from July to September, has also helped to increase the passenger volume during the period. --Bernama
