KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were lower
at mid-afternoon today, led by finance stocks, on selling pressure, dealers said.

At 3.10pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 7.73 points to 1,461.42. It had opened 1.22 points higher at 1,470.37.

The Plantation Index rose 39.86 points to 7,321.69 and the Industrial Index added 11.27 points to 2,706.19.

Bursa Malaysia's Finance Index, however, fell 175.09 points to 13,857.07.


The FBM Emas Index decreased 48.591 points to 9,996.64, FBM70 Index shed 52.91 points to 10,893.56 and the FBM Ace lost 30.03 points to 3,733.98.

Losers led gainers by 421 to 190 while 252 counters were unchanged and 618 others untraded.

A total of 505.65 million shares worth RM1.14 million were traded.

Among active stocks, CIMB fell 31 sen to RM7.29, Axiata was down 25 sen to RM4.60 and Ho Wah Genting-Ord Rights shed six sen to one sen.

In heavyweights, Maybank declined three sen to RM8.71, Sime Darby lost 31 sen to RM7.29 and Petronas Chemicals decreased five sen to RM6.25. - Bernama
