AZRB to start work on MRT viaduct this month
PETALING JAYA: Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd (AZRB) will start work on the viaduct stretching from Plaza Phoenix to Bandar Tun Hussein Onn station for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) by the end of this month.
The company said the project, which has a contract value of RM764.9mil, was expected to be completed in June 2016. The project was awarded to its unit, Ahmad Zaki Sdn Bhd, as part of the MRT package V6.
In a statement yesterday, AZRB said the V6 package involved the construction and completion of the viaduct guideway and other associated works.
“The alignment makes full use of elevated structures with a total distance 5.24km along the Cheras-Kajang Highway,” the company said.
AZRB managing director Datuk Wan Zakariah Wan Muda said in the same statement that proper project implementation plans were already in place.
He said the plans were not only to meet the requirements of MRT Corp Sdn Bhd as the project owner and project delivery partner but also to address the various concerns raised by the general public.
MMC Gamuda KVMRT (PDP) Sdn Bhd is the project delivery partner for the MRT project.
IJM Bhd's unit, IJM Construction Sdn Bhd, was awarded the adjoining package, Package V5.
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that IJM expected its Package V5 project, which is valued at RM974mil, to be completed in approximately 43 months.
Package V5 consists of the construction and completion of a viaduct guideway and other associated works from the Maluri portal to Plaza Phoenix station, with a total distance of 5.4km.
