New BMW 3 Series assembled in Kulim

BMW Group Malaysia has introduced its first batch of locally-assembled
production model of the new BMW 320d and BMW 328i at the BMW assembly
plant in Kulim, Kedah.
In a statement here today, the company
said in March this year, the premium sports sedan has rapidly grown to
become the number one bestseller and key contributor towards making it
Malaysia's number one best-selling premium carmaker.
The new
locally-assembled units of the BMW 3 Series were identical in all
respects to their imported counterparts which further allows the company
to optimise its supply to customers nationwide as well as maximising
the total cost of ownership value, waiting time for complete units and
spare parts for BMW customers in the country.
It said the BMW 3
Series has been and continues to be the best-selling sports sedan
anywhere in the world with well over 12 million units delivered since
1975.
"With local assembly operations now fully underway, we are
confident that the sixth generation BMW 3 Series will continue to be a
core contributor to our business success for years to come," it said.
Operational
since 2008, the BMW assembly plant in Kulim has been an integral part
of the group's success in Malaysia with a production run of more than
12,000 units to date.
With a workforce of over 250 employees and
equipped with the latest in manufacturing technologies, the plant
generates variants of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series and BMW X1 in
Malaysia.
The BMW Assembly Plant is operated in partnership with
Inokom Corporation, a subsidiary of Sime Darby Bhd, at the Inokom
factory in Kulim, Kedah. -- Bernama

yes mate it usually will be only 10k cheaper or so
CKD completely knock down unit, hence some parts will come in knock down form and assembled here in kulim
currently the F10 5 series is assembled now the F30 3 series

i tell you my peugeot got alot problem arr, the agent tell me cos is local assemble compare to last time
first, air-con lubang jamp
then auto light sensor spoild
then battery less then 1year change
then gearbox low gear time got transmission shock, not smooth
lucky all got changed for free

I am still waiting for my gear box to spoil, need abt 20-30k to replace the gearbox I heard, I mean honda city

yea.. honda city is a pully system...not really a gear type that's what i heard...so its very expensive...however it can last quite long unless u are unlucky or drag race with your city
