KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 7): The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed mixed today, in sync with the equities market, dealers said.
They said market sentiment remained cautious, ahead of the widely-awaited US Federal Open Market Committee meeting minutes of Dec 13, to be released tomorrow, alongside the jobs data on Friday, for hints of further reductions in the monthly bond purchases.
Spot month January 2014 and February rose 0.5 of a point each, to 1,828.5 and 1,828 respectively.
March 2014 was flat at 1,827, and June 2014 dropped 3.0 points to 1,822.5.
Turnover amounted to 8,026 lots — an increase from yesterday's 7,002 lots, while open interest also improved to 47,599 contracts, from 46,646 contracts.
On the cash market, the underlying FBM KLCI ended 4.07 points lower, at 1,825.11.
