KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 10): The Malaysian rubber market closed slightly lower today, compared to Thursday, on the strengthening of the ringgit to the US dollar, a dealer said.
He said prices at the Kuala Lumpur rubber market were also on the lower range, in line with the downtrend on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange, as the Japanese yen rebounded against the greenback.
At noon, the Malaysian Rubber Board's official physical price for tyre-grade SMR 20 fell six sen to 710 sen a kg, and latex-in-bulk eased 4.5 sen to 480.5 sen a kg.
The unofficial closing price for tyre-grade SMR 20 fell half-a sen to 712 sen a kg, while latex-in-bulk also shed three sen to 479.5 sen a kg.
