KUALA LUMPUR (April 29): The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures (FKLI) contracts on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed higher today.

Phillip Futures Sdn Bhd dealer, Thomas Yew Jia-Jong, said however, trading on the market was cautious as the quarterly results were being reported.

"The FKLI had a quiet trading session, but it crept up slowly towards the close to the intraday high of 1,861.

"It could settle higher tomorrow, as it is the last trading day for the April contract, but could be capped on cautious sentiment ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee meeting," he told Bernama.

April 2014 rose 6.0 points to 1,861 points, May 2014 added 3.0 points to 1,856.5 points, June 2014 appreciated 5.5 points to 1,856.5 points, and September 2014 rose 8.0 points to 1,849.5 points.

Turnover fell to 17,282 lots from yesterday's 24,982 lots, while open interest narrowed to 51,525 contracts, from 66,988 contracts recorded on Monday.

The benchmark index gained 3.6 points to 1,859.34 points, after hovering between 1,852.27 points and 1,859.34 points throughout the day.
